Power of Positive Thinking

The power of positive thinking is not a new concept, but one that's been around for centuries. Some embrace the concept and others believe it is, frankly, just not important; however those who not only believe but use it in their everyday life and with every situation have not only seen it work but have experienced the benefits.

All of your feelings, beliefs, and knowledge are beyond thinking. They are based on your internal beliefs, conscious and subconscious. You are truly in control of these things, whether you know it or not and can change them at any time. One way to start is to use affirmations. Affirmations can be used in all different places in your life. For postitive thinking, there are positive affirmations! The good news is, you can be and feel anything that you want. For example:

    • Positive or negative
    • Exciting or dull
    • Active or passive

You have to decide which of these you would like to be, think it and feel the action and then you become that action. If you truly want to be positive then you will take on all positive feelings and block out the negative. You may have to do this by consciously saying (affirmations) or doing actions that dictate the action, but soon it will become automatic and you will reap the benefits. It's critical to have faith in what you are saying. You must beleive it yourself and attach emotion to it in order for it to work.

The Three Steps of Change

Our present attitudes and habits are based on outside feedback from our family and friends, which forms our self image and our image of the world. These images are maintained by the inner conversations that occur in our head; conscious and subconscious. Three steps you can take are:

    Commitment – Make positive comments to yourself and to others at work and all aspects of life. Praise yourself and others and be enthusiastic with everything in life.

    Control – Keep your mind focused on important things, set goals, and priorities. Visualize and develop strategies. Learn to relax and enjoy success. Be honest with yourself and others.

    Challenge – Have courage. Change and improve each day and do your best not to look back. Try new things, meet new people, and ask questions of yourself and others. Keep track of your mental and physical health and stay optimistic.
